FAQs

Here are some common questions I get about my web design services. If this doesn’t cut it, feel free to contact me!

  • Squarespace! While I have experience with other platforms, I’ve dialed my experience and style on Squarespace because in my opinion, it is the most flexible web-building playground. After building your site, I’ll walk you through basic edits so that you can update the site yourself as your body of work continues to grow.

If you are set on another web-building platform, I’m probably not the perfect designer for you.

  • For custom projects, I run two-week design periods to get your work out into the world as soon as possible. That means that I usually start projects on a Monday and launch on the following Friday.

Starter sites (geared towards individual artists) have a compressed one-week design period.

However, I am usually booked several weeks out, so go ahead and schedule your consult call so we can get the ball rolling.

  • Your dream website is only possible if we are both equally committed!

    You should be ready to:

    • Provide text content (called copy), assets (images, logos, etc), and questionnaire answers by the Thursday before our design period. I’ll provide clear instructions to make this homework as painless as possible ;)

    • Be available via email during our two-week design period to answer questions and provide feedback.

    • Make all project payments on time to Drizzly Day Design, and set up your hosting & domain fees to Squarespace during our project window. (I’ll walk you through this!)

  • The price of your web design package will depend on the size and scope of your project.

Get in touch to get the ball rolling, and I can give you a better estimate.

  • Your total investment is broken into three equal payments: 1/3 at the time of booking to reserve your design period, 1/3 on the first day of your design period (usually a Monday), and 1/3 on the last day of your design period (usually the following Friday).

This is all done through my secure and efficient client portal so that we can focus on the fun stuff - making your website!

  • Hosting and domain registration fees are not included. All your files, data, and content will live on a server - think of it like paying a digital rent to Squarespace. I’ll walk you through how to get that set up so that you are in charge of your billing preferences.

Your hosting fees will depend on which plan you choose and whether you pay annually or monthly. Squarespace’s pricing tiers are here. I can advise which plan will be best for your goals. If you haven’t purchased a plan yet, hold off! As a Squarespace Circle member, I’ll be able to get you 20% off of your first year.

Your domain registration will be charged annually - most commonly domains are $20/year, but you can check what you’re preferred domain will cost here.

  • Here’s an overview of what your investment affords you:

    • an awesome final product complete with custom web pages, personality-packed branding, and foundational SEO

    • my specialized skill set and experience so that the details don’t slip through the cracks

    • a proven two-week timeline to hold us both accountable - no more waiting to get your work out into the world!

    • personalized education to empower you to maintain your own site

If you want to work together but need to save up first, I’d suggest still going ahead and booking a free consultation call. This way, I’ll have you on my radar, and we can get you on my design calendar as soon as you’re ready (I’m often booked out several weeks to months!) Reserving your spot requires a 1/3 deposit, but the other payments won’t kick in until your design period.

You can explore my design packages here.

  • Squarespace was created to be a user-friendly platform. If you’re just looking to get your info out there, DIY might be the way for you to go.

But have you ever been on sites that have distracting formatting issues? Or just look a little cookie-cutter? I certainly have. If you’re looking for something that is truly personality-packed and thoroughly formatted for success, working with an experienced designer will save you a ton of time, headaches, and avoidable mistakes.

Plus, at the end of our design period, I will teach you what you need to know to manage YOUR site. This personalized lesson will allow you to grow your site much more effectively than scouring hours of YouTube tutorials that may or may not be relevant to you.

  • Ah yes, so by working with me, you basically get a 2-for-1. Many designers charge an additional fee for their branding services, but as of now, my packages include branding elements like font pairings, color palette, sourced stock images, and a custom wordmark logo.

A wordmark logo is a simple, timeless, font-only logo. If you’re looking for something illustrated, you can work with a graphic designer separately to help you accomplish your vision, and then I can incorporate it into your site.

If you already have established brand identity or you are a Canva aficionado, I will absolutely use what you’ve got and build from there!

  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of enhancing your website so that it ranks higher in search engine results, like those on Google. When potential clients or collaborators search for relevant terms related to your art or services, effective SEO helps ensure that your website appears in those search results.

I will use the text and images you provide to set you up with a solid SEO foundation on the front and back ends of your site.

I am an SEO-focused designer, NOT an SEO expert. I do not guarantee any sort of SEO ranking, nor do I perform detailed keyword analyses. Prominent SEO rankings come from a combination of time, luck, keyword strategy, and a well-maintained site.

  • I have done a ton website glow-ups. The before-and-afters are super satisfying :)

If you feel that the two-week design process is not exactly what you’re looking for, feel free to reach out, and we can explore whether I’ll be able to help.
